There’s still time to get over to Keaton Beach, Steinhatchee, Horseshoe Beach or St. Marks and catch the last of this season’s bay scallops. The waters are finally clearing up a bit, making the picking easier, and the crowds are staying home due to increased weekend activity on football fields. Smaller crowds mean better access to the water and boat ramps, fewer folks at the cleaning tables, easier motel reservations and shorter waits at local restaurants. And when you get home, you’ll be able to enjoy one of the most delicious meals the Gulf of Mexico has to offer. For more information about scalloping (with a recipe, too!), see Bay Scallops, The Gulf of Mexico’s Tastiest Treat on the Saltwater Angler’s Guide website.
